• What is the Gathering of Games?

  The Gathering of Games is the only conference where the Open-Book Community comes together from around the world to learn, share, and celebrate the principles and practices of the Great Game of Business and Open-Book Management.

• Where is the event held?

  The conference will be held at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand & Suites in St. Louis, MO.

• I’m on a budget, how can I make the conference more affordable?

  The Great Game of Business offers multiple discounts to help you come in under budget. The best way to save is to register early.

• Are there other ways to save money?

  Yes, we highly encourage you to stay at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand Hotel Room Block. A reduced room rate of $144 per night is available for conference attendees. You’ll also save by registering early and by bringing a group of 4 or more.

   

• What expenses aren’t included in the registration fee?

  Unless you chose to register for the “Full Conference”, your registration fee will not include Pre-Conference Workshops ($195/each) or the “Casino Night Networking Reception & Book Launch Party” ($85/each; includes dinner & drinks)

  You are also responsible for transportation, hotel, and meals not included in the conference registration.

• Is there a multi-person discount?

  Yes, teams of 4 or more receive a $100 per person discount.

• What am I getting for my money?

  You will receive full conference access and free entry into the All-Star Celebration Party for the standard conference fee. This includes the option of more than 20 conference sessions related to Open-Book Management.

• Do you offer a hotel room discount?

  Yes – The cost is $144 a night at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand & Suites for annual conference attendees. However, space is limited, so be sure you reserve your room early.

• What is the agenda at the Conference?

  September 4th – Events from 1:30 pm – 9:15 pm

  September 5th – Events from 7:30 am – 7:30 pm

  September 6th – Events from 7:30 am – 1:00 pm

• Is there parking available at the hotel?

  The Renaissance St. Louis Grand offers valet parking on site for $28 per day. The hotel also offers self parking for $14 per day. There are also other public parking garages available near the hotel.

• Will there be transportation to and from the airport?

  Transportation is not provided to and from the St. Louis airport. The hotel is approximately 15 miles (20 minutes) from St. Louis International Airport.

  GO BEST Express is providing a discounted rate on airport transportation for Gathering of Games attendees who make web reservations before August 29th.

• Can I register for the conference if I’ve never been to a Great Game event?

  Yes, but we would highly encourage you to attend the pre-conference workshop “The Game Overview” in order to make the most of your conference investment.

• Could I just attend one day of the conference?

  Yes, but reduced pricing is not offered for single day attendance. However, the Pre-Conference sessions, which are held the afternoon of September 4th may be purchased separately.

• When does registration end?

  Registration ends September 6th, 2013

• What do I wear at the conference?

  The conference is a fun environment. We encourage everyone to wear logo-wear for their organization. We always recommend you dress in layers as conference rooms tend to have unpredictable temperature.

• What meals are covered by the conference?

  Breakfast on Thursday and Friday, and lunch on Thursday will be provided.

• Why did The Gathering of Games move from May to September?

  Though we’ve been holding The Annual Gathering of Games in May for several years, the Conference was originally held in September. We took several factors into consideration when making the decision to move the conference back to the fall including the placement of other conferences regularly attended by our community, feedback from our Practitioner Council and the conference strategy for growth. However, the ultimate decision was clear when Randomhouse announced they would release of The Great Game of Business 20th Anniversary Edition in July. What better time to get together than to celebrate the re-release of the book that started it all?
